太石乡【概况】位于康县城西北34.5公里处。东北部濒临西汉水与成县相望,南接平洛镇和豆坪乡,西部与武都县龙坝乡毗连。面积50.7平方公里。人口3800。乡政府驻河口下。【历史沿革】以境内太石山得名。建国前属平洛镇管辖。建国初设太石乡,1958年划归平洛公社。1961年分设太石公社。1983年改太石公社为太石乡至今。现辖河口坝、柑柏树、雍坝、水口坝、寺沟里、巩家山、阳山、董家湾、李家山、何家湾10个村委会,48个自然村。【自然与经济】地处西汉水南岸,平洛河以北,地势西南高而东北低。西北部森林茂密,气候温和阴湿,雨量充沛;东南光山秃岭,气候暖温干燥,雨量较少。平均气温12度,年降水量450毫米左右。海拔在894-1807米之间。耕地面积7770亩,其中坝地482亩。粮食作物以小麦、玉米为主;经济作物有油料、药材、大麻、水果等。西北部松林及灌木林中有山牛、金钱豹等珍稀动物。当地的造铧工艺始于明代,河口坝等村设有铧厂,生产的铁铧造型优美,质优耐用,畅销陕西及天水,陇南等地的30多个县。【交通】江望公路通过其境南端。【文教卫生】现有小学9所,医院1所,保健站10所。【名胜古迹】太石山又名铁笼关,地势险要,为古今交通要道。寺沟里有建于明代的杨广寺,1930年遭散兵焚毁。现虽庙宇无存,但每年仍有庙会,川、陕、甘三省商贾云集。
