中星仪中星仪transitinstrument观测恒星过上中天(过观测站子午圈)的一种天体测量仪器。又称子午仪。主要用于精确测定恒星过上中天的时刻,以求得恒星钟的钟差,从而确定世界时、恒星赤经和基本天文点的经度。发明于17世纪,后经不断改进。中星仪由望远镜、目视接触测微器、寻星度盘、挂水准器、太尔各特水准器以及望远镜支座等部分构成。望远镜通常是折轴式的,其水平轴指向东西方向,镜筒可在子午面内旋转,星光经过位于水平轴中央的直角棱镜,反射到水平轴的一端用超人差接触测微器或光电接收器进行记录。中星仪水平轴上挂有一个高灵敏度的挂水准器,以改正水平轴的倾斜。在水平轴的两端各有一段精度极高的圆柱形枢轴,可保证水平轴倾斜误差和方位误差稳定不变。中星仪在一颗星的观测中间进行转轴,以抵消望远镜准直差等误差。利用太尔各特水准器,中星仪也可用于测量纬度或恒星赤纬。激光测卫等新技术已承担了测定世界时的任务,但用于检测铅垂线变化,中星仪的作用仍无可替代。
