雷州半岛雷州半岛位于中国广东省西南部，伸入南海北部湾和雷州湾间，隔琼州海峡与海南岛相望。主要为玄武岩组成的台地，地势起伏和缓，台地上有若干死火山，高度大多在250米以下。沿海为海拔60米以下的台地和阶地。河流短促。植被稀疏，大部地区为草地和灌木丛，水土流失严重，土壤干燥贫瘠。中华人民共和国建立后，大力植树造林，1958年在廉江附近兴建鹤地水库，并修建经湛江郊区到海康县（今雷州市）的青年运河，促进了农业发展。地处热带北部边缘，1月均温15～18℃，极端最低温2～5℃，全年基本无霜，偶有奇寒。在防护林的保护下可种植以橡胶、剑麻为主的热带作物。主要城市有湛江市，为中国南方重要港口，有铁路通往外地。雷州半岛一角鸟瞰
