涌浪涌浪swell风浪离开风吹的区域后所形成的波浪。另外,风速、风向等风要素的突变,也可能使风区内原来的风浪转变为涌浪。涌浪与风浪相比,具有较规则的外形,排列比较整齐,波峰线较长,波面较平滑,比较接近于正弦波的形状。涌浪在传播过程中,由于空气阻力和海水的内摩擦作用,加上涌浪传播时波动能量被散布在越来越大的区域内,所以随着传播距离的增加,在单位表面积的水柱内,涌浪的能量和波高都不断减小。涌浪可以看作是由许多振幅不等、频率不等、传播方向不同并具有随机初相位的正弦波的分量叠加而成。在涌浪的传播过程中,这些波分量的波动能量,都要随着传播距离的增加而减小。但是,这些波分量的衰减是有选择性的,频率大的组成波衰减得快,频率小的衰减得慢,随着传播距离的增加,高频分量所占有能量的比例越来越小,而低频的波分量则相对地越来越起着支配作用,因而在传播过程中,涌浪的外观周期将不断增大。随着周期的增大,波长和波速也相应地增大,而波面的陡度则变得越来越小。另外,因为高频分量具有使波面变得粗糙的作用,所以在涌浪传播的过程中,高频分量的能量比例的降低,也导致波面更加规则和光滑。
