休眠休眠dormancy生物的相对静止状态,伴有代谢活动的明显降低。包括微生物孢子的休眠,植物种子、其地下部分或整个植株的越冬休眠,昆虫的滞育,以及高等脊椎动物的冬眠和夏眠等,但不包括动物的日周期的生理睡眠。休眠多是季节性的,常受机体的内在节律控制,外界条件的变化只起促发作用。①植物的休眠。不同纬度带植物的休眠习性不同。寒带与温带的乔木和灌木,其落叶休眠是抗寒的一种表现,受日照和温度控制。随日照时数减短、气温下降,叶内合成的生长抑制因子(脱落酸)输送到芽与茎枝,促使其休眠,叶柄基部形成离层,叶片枯黄脱落,植株进入越冬休眠。热带、亚热带的乔木和灌木一般为常绿树,在年生长周期中没有明显的休眠期,只是在干旱或低温时期暂时停止生长。许多植物(特别是一年生野草)的种子成熟后不能即时萌发,称为休眠种子。导致种子休眠的原因有许多,包括种皮的限制,必须破除种皮才可促进其萌发。有些种子则因抑制物质的作用而持续休眠,如苹果、桃,需要在5℃左右的湿沙中储存1~2个月才能萌芽,其原因主要是抑制物质(以脱落酸为主)的作用。②动物的休眠。水生动物缺乏典型的休眠现象,只有肺鱼在旱季池沼干涸时钻入泥中休眠,以待雨季来临。在恒温动物中,鸟类以迁徙方式躲避冬寒。冬眠现象在哺乳类中较为发达,食虫、翼手、啮齿3个目中都有冬眠。熊在冬眠中体温仍保持34℃,虽数月不进食,呼吸频率降为每分钟2~3次,但遇有外警仍能奋起逃避。这种浅冬眠可称冬睡。黄鼠、刺猬的冬眠是真正的冬眠。在冬眠穴中,其体温可降至1℃左右,呈完全麻痹状态,但心脏仍跳动,在5℃时每分钟仅跳动一次。冬眠的动物也消耗体内储存的养料。有些冬眠鼠类在穴中储备有食物,每次觉醒时都要进食。休眠动物生理机能的改变主要受神经中枢控制。在休眠期所有内分泌腺均停止活动,各种代谢水平普遍降低。但至觉醒时,各器官的生理活动按一定顺序迅速恢复正常,这个过程要消耗大量能量。昆虫的休眠与高等动物有所不同,除一般的休眠外,另有一种昆虫特有的滞育现象。滞育是昆虫发育的一个环节,常由内在生物节律所决定。滞育期的长度因虫种而异。每年滞育的虫种,其长度在2个月以上;多年滞育的虫种,长度在2年以上,如蝉的幼虫期,可达17年之久。
