西伦佩，F.E. 芬兰作家。出生于海门屈勒一个农民家庭，曾就读于坦佩雷中学。1908年考入赫尔辛基大学攻读数学和生物，因生活困难，中途辍学，从事文学创作以谋生。他从小了解农村生活,对劳苦大众怀有深厚的同情,但有宿命论观点。他的作品在一定程度上反映了当时的重大历史事件，但主人公几乎都是命运的牺牲品。他的第一部作品是长篇小说《赤贫》，发表于国内战争结束后的第二年(1919)，描写一个名叫尤哈的佃农,生活贫困,在战争中参加赤卫队，后来惨遭杀害。《赤贫》的续篇《海尔杜和拉纳尔》写尤哈的女儿海尔杜在城里帮工，被少爷拉纳尔诱奸，以致投水自尽。小说《少女西丽亚》描写一个有钱人家少女在父母双亡后出外帮工，贫病交加而死，深刻地揭露了人与人之间的不平等关系。西伦佩擅长人物心理刻画，描绘大自然,寓情于景,使人物和景物水乳交融，互相辉映。由于他成功地描写了农民生活、农民与大自然的关系，于1939年获得诺贝尔文学奖金。其他作品有长篇小说《生活与阳光》(1916)，小说《一个人的道路》(1932)、《夏夜的人们》(1934)，散文集《农舍》(1925)、《八月》（1944）、《人生的甘苦》(1945)，短篇故事集《我亲爱的祖国》(1919)、《天使保护的人》（1923），短篇小说集《地平线上》(1924)。
