红麻（kenaf） 红麻（kenaf） 锦葵科木槿属中的一个种，学名Hibiscus cannabinus L.。一年生草本的韧皮纤维作物。别名洋麻、槿麻、钟麻。红麻纤维拉力强、耐腐、吸湿、散水快，可纺织包装用麻袋，麻布，也可织地毯、制造绳索等。还可造纸。麻骨可制纤维板。麻叶是牲畜的好饲料。 红麻分布广，以中国、前苏联、印度和孟加拉等国栽培面积较多，在中东、西南非洲等地以野生状态分布。1928年中国东北地区从前苏联引种、尔后向河北、山东等推广。 茎直立，高3-5m，茎中部直径1.5-2.0cm，有腋芽。茎有绿、红、紫、淡红等颜色。表皮被蜡质，有刺。茎横断面为圆形，由外向内为表皮、皮层、韧皮部、形成层、木质部和髓。 叶片有掌状裂叶和阔卵叶（俗称全叶）两种。绿色，叶缘有锯齿，叶柄有刺。掌状裂叶型品种，花为离瓣花冠。花淡黄或乳白色。花药黄色、褐黄色、深褐色等。雌蕊花柱5裂，柱头淡红或紫色。花粉球形有刺，橙黄或淡褐色。蒴果桃形，成熟时为黄褐色。表皮有银白色细毛，每果有5-6室，每室种子5粒。种子肾形，黑灰色，千粒重25-30g。 是喜温作物，生长发育的适宜温度为25℃左右，采收纤维和采种栽培要求10℃以上的有效积温分别为2600℃和3000℃以上，无霜期150天以上，年雨量500mm左右。以壤土为宜，红壤、黄壤及低洼地、轻盐碱地也能种植。是短日性植物，对光照条件反应敏感。病害主要有红麻炭疽病(Colletotrichum)、红麻根结线虫病（Meloidogyne sp.）、红麻立枯病（Rhizoctonia solani）、红麻斑点病Cercospora malayensis、红麻灰霉病Botrytis cinerea、红麻腰折病Helminthosporium sp.、印度炭疽病Colletotrichum indicum等。 虫害主要有棉小造桥虫（Anomis flava）、棉蚜（Aphis gossypii）、小地老虎等、还有棉叶蝉Empoasca biguttula.、绿盲椿Lygus lucarum、红蜘蛛Tetranychus cinnabarinus、斜纹夜蛾Prodenia litura 、玉米螟Ostrinica nubilalis等。
