气垫船气垫船air-cushioncraft利用船底与水面间的高压气垫作用，使船体部分或全部提升以实现快速航行的船舶。高压气垫是将空气压入船底，在船底周边有柔性围裙(也可以是刚性围裙)限制空气逸出而形成，以空气压力顶升船体。1959年英国建造了第一艘气垫船，航行于英吉利海峡。气垫船多为客船，也用作渡船或交通船。气垫船航行速度可达每小时80海里。按气垫船提升高度可分为全垫升式和部分垫升式。全垫升气垫船又称全浮式气垫船。是在船底四周有柔性围裙，由于是全垫升，故其速度高且适应性好，能在水面航行外，也可在平坦地面和沼泽中行驶。其推进是使用空气螺旋桨，用空气舵控制方向。部分垫升式气垫船，即侧壁气垫船。是在船体两舷设刚性侧壁，而在首尾设柔性气封装置以维持气垫，可垫升大部分船体，只能航行于水面，其推进是使用水下螺旋桨式喷水装置。航行速度高于普通船舶，但不及全垫升式气垫船。气垫船结构材质要求强度高、质量轻。使用铝合金、玻璃钢或高强度钢制造，采用航空发动机、高速柴油机等作为动力装置。
