女娲女娲中国上古神话中的创世女神。传说她与伏羲是兄妹，她与伏羲结婚而产生人类，后来女娲禁止兄妹相婚，这反映了中国原始时代由血缘婚进步到族外婚的情况。又传说女娲用黄土仿照自己造成了人，创造了人类社会。还有传说女娲补天，即自然界发生了一场特大灾害，天塌地陷，猛禽恶兽都出来残害百姓，女娲熔炼五色石来修补苍天，又杀死恶兽猛禽。另传说女娲制造了一种叫笙簧的乐器，于是人们又奉女娲是音乐女神。《风俗通义》记载她替人类建立了婚姻制度，使青年男女相互婚配，繁衍后代，因此被传为婚姻女神。关于女娲的传说很多，一直流传至今，影响甚为广泛深远。至今中国云南的苗族、侗族还将女娲作为本民族的始祖加以崇拜。《女娲炼石图》（清·任颐）一说女娲是一个真实存在过的历史人物，主要活动于黄土高原，她的陵寝位于山西洪洞县赵城镇东的侯村。女娲陵的存在时间可能在三四千年以上，同黄帝陵一样，也是中国古代皇帝祭奠的庙宇。当地在每年农历三月初十前后，均举行长达7天的大型庙会和祭祀活动。
