目前国内企业应用CAPP技术的现状通过对国内部分设计院、企业所做的调研，大部分企业对CAPP系统的应用情况并不令人乐观。企业应用CAPP系统最具代表性的情况有如下几种： 1.大部分企业的工艺设计仍然采用手工设计的方式，CAPP的应用仍是空白。较偏远地区的企业，特别是那些中小企业，不光CAPP的应用是一片空白，计算机的应用状况也令人担忧。 2.部分企业在计算机技术和CAD的应用较为普及以后，工艺设计成为企业的薄弱环节。有些企业自己在Word、Excel或AutoCAD上绘制出工艺卡片的空白表格，在此基础上进行工艺规程的设计。此种设计方式也是利用计算机进行辅助工艺设计，因此，也可称做CAPP，但此类CAPP所生成的工艺规程是以文本文件的形式存在的，工艺部门只生成文本文件，企业无法对工艺数据进行有效地管理。 3.部分企业已充分认识到工艺设计的重要性，并购买了部分商品化的CAPP系统，但由于企业对CAPP的认识还存在一些误区，因此，CAPP的应用还不尽人意。 目前大部分企业都已意识到了CAPP技术应用的必要性，但企业在CAPP系统的选择和应用上还存在较多的误区和较大的盲目性；主要表现在盲目追求设计自动化、最优化，而不注重基础数据的准备，基础技术的稳固发展和人员素质的提高。 误区之一：认为CAPP就是由计算机自动生成工艺规程。 首先，工艺设计是一个典型的复杂问题，所涉及的因素是大量的，而且是错综复杂的，它涉及到零件信息、制造资源、工艺专家知识等众多信息（数据）的组织和管理，它不仅涉及到单纯的数值运算，也要处理图象、字符、表格等复杂的数据，因此，CAPP系统的核心和难点都是数据的处理。其次，由于工艺设计对使用环境有着极大的依赖性，且工艺设计中许多工艺知识不具备精确的定义和严密的数学模型，许多问题是非确定性的，至今工艺设计仍处于经验决策阶段，这就导致工艺设计的动态性和经验性。正是由于以上原因，自动化的CAPP系统目前只能针对某种特定零件，如回转体；通用的自动化的CAPP系统还只能处于研究阶段，而无法应用到实际当中。目前CAPP当中的A是辅助（Aided）而不是自动化（Automatic）。 误区之二：认为CAPP基于零件即可，而不必基于产品结构 在企业中，所有生产活动都是围绕着产品结构而展开的，一个产品的生产过程实际上就是这个产品所有属性的生成过程。每一份工艺文件虽然是针对一个具体的零、部件，但作为产品的属性之一，工艺文件也应在工艺设计计划的指导下，围绕着产品结构展开，这样就可以清晰地描述产品的装配关系，并可直接读取产品的明细表数据文件将CAD中的产品设计数据自动带入到CAPP系统中。因此，基于产品结构的CAPP系统更适应企业的生产环境。
