琵琶湖琵琶湖Biwako-BiwaLake日本最大的淡水湖。因湖形如琵琶,故得此名。位于距京都5千米处的滋贺县大津市。面积681平方千米,南北长63.9千米,东西最宽处为21.6千米,最窄处为720米,水的最深处为103米,湖岸线长235.2千米。琵琶湖环境优美,周围多名胜古迹,是日本著名的旅游胜地。1500年前,前关白(官名)近卫政家曾援引中国洞庭湖的8景选出“近江八景”,后多荒芜。现滋贺县又选定了新的“琵琶湖八景”为:濑田,石山的清流,比叡的树林,雄松崎的白汀,贱岳的大观,彦根的古城,海津大崎的岩礁,安土八幡的水乡和竹生岛的沉影。湖中竹生岛上的庙宇中供奉着观世音菩萨。
