沉积作用沉积作用sedimentation被搬运物质由于搬运介质的物理化学条件发生变化,而有规律地沉积下来的一种地质作用。由于沉积作用往往和风化作用、搬运作用密不可分,因此学者常把它们综合起来进行研究。广义的沉积作用包括沉积物的形成、搬运和堆积的全过程。沉积作用按搬运介质的不同可分为风的、地面流水的、地下水的、冰川的、湖沼的和海洋的沉积作用等6种类型;按沉积作用的方式可分为机械的、化学的和生物的沉积作用3种类型。机械的搬运和沉积作用陆源碎屑及火山碎屑物质,均以机械的方式进行搬运和沉积,并受流体力学定律的支配。按搬运介质流体的性质,可分为牵引流和重力流两类。①牵引流的机械搬运和沉积作用。这是最为常见的沉积作用,如雨水、河流、湖流、洋流、波浪流、潮汐流、等深流和风的机械搬运和沉积作用等。当牵引流体的动力大于碎屑物质的重力,并克服了粘结力和摩擦力时,物体就被搬运走,相反则将被沉积下来。沉积物通常具有明显的机械沉积分选作用,即随搬运距离的加长,碎屑物依大小、比重、形态、成分不同而分别沉积。由于波浪流、潮汐流和洋流对碎屑物质的改造能比河流大100倍,所以海洋沉积物具有分选好、磨圆度高、结构成熟度和成分成熟度高的特点。冰川的机械搬运沉积作用比较复杂,一般固体搬运属重力流,在雪线以下冰川消融时可产生牵引流。冰川沉积物以分选差、磨圆度低、有擦痕、层理很差为特征。有时重达数千吨的漂砾可与细小的砾石、砂、粉砂混合堆积在一起。②重力流的机械搬运和沉积作用。重力流是一种高密度的碎屑和水或气的混合流体,包括泥石流、颗粒流、液化沉积物流、浊流、岩块崩塌流和热灰云流等。重力流沉积物分选性很差、无大型交错层理、常呈块状及粒序构造。常见于大陆的冲积扇、深湖或深海环境中。化学的搬运和沉积作用溶解在水体中的物质通常呈胶体或真溶液两种状态。胶体凝聚可沉积形成粘土矿物、磷酸盐类、铝土矿、铁矿和锰矿等。氯、硫、钙、钠、钾、镁等呈离子状态存在于水溶液中,呈真溶液被搬运并通过化学作用而沉淀,形成各种盐类及石灰岩、白云岩、多水高岭石等。生物的搬运和沉积作用生物通过生命活动直接或间接地促使化学元素、有机或无机物质进行分解、化合、迁移和聚集或将遗体直接堆积下来,造成生物沉积岩石。如礁灰岩、硅藻土、石油、油页岩、煤及某些磷矿、锰矿、铁矿等。地壳中的各种沉积岩层和沉积矿产都是沉积作用的产物,保存在沉积岩层中的各种沉积现象反映着各个地质时期的地质环境,是研究全球变化的重要物证,研究沉积作用对于人类的生存和发展有重要意义。
