污染物的释放　　导致环境质量变劣的各种污染物扩散到环境中的过程。污染物的释放分为自然释放和人为释放两种。自然释放是在太阳能、地能、生物能、化学能的作用下，自然界发生的物质释放过程；人为释放是人类的生产和消费活动引起的物质释放过程。　　　　人为释放的规模与人类的生产能力、工艺水平和经济发展程度紧密相关。美国学者E.D.戈德堡等于1975年对物质释放输送做了总体估计（表1），从中可见人类活动释放的物质已达自然过程释放的物质的七分之一左右。　　　　　　矿物燃料燃烧释放的化学元素量同自然风化过程释放的元素量的比较见表2。人为释放到环境中的污染物，多数情况下是以化合物形态排出的。表3列出了几种主要元素的人为释放量同自然释放量的比较。　　　　污染物的人为释放包括人类消费释放、农业生产释放、工业生产释放等。　　　　人类消费释放的污染物，由于生活水平和生活习惯的不同有很大差异，但也有共同性。如人类排放的生活污水一般含有需氧有机物、病原体、植物营养素（氮、磷）和无机盐类等。世界上许多城市每人每天排出的生活污水达600升(污水含生化需氧量约300～500ppm)，生活垃圾约1～2公斤。　　　　农业生产释放的污染物主要是农药和化肥。能造成危害的主要是含有汞、铜、铅等重金属农药；含砷农药；以及对硫磷、内吸磷等有机磷农药和DDT、六六六等有机氯农药。这些农药毒性强、残留期长、用量大，不仅污染农田和牧场，残留在蔬菜、果品、谷物和禽畜肉蛋中，而且还会进入水域和大气。化学肥料的大量施用，造成磷、氮肥料的流失和某些重金属在土壤中的积累。　　　　工业生产释放的污染物主要是工业生产过程中使用的原料、材料和燃料，以及中间产品、最终产品生成时，随着废气、废水、废渣或以其他形式释放到环境中的某些能量和物质，包括噪声、热辐射、电磁波、放射线等。　　　　污染物的人为释放是引起区域环境质量恶化的基本原因，所以控制污染物的人为释放极为重要。
