丛麻禅院位于山东省海阳市东北端20公里处海拔400米高的七峰山怀抱之中。始建于隋末唐初,历经唐、宋、元、明、清,迄今千余年,名声远扬,成为胶东著名的佛教圣地。唐朝开国大将尉迟敬德曾经出征经过此地,闻听丛麻禅院圣名,特来上香,结果出征大获全胜,凯旋而归。尉迟敬德深感丛麻禅院地灵人杰,圣僧神明,遂出资扩建丛麻禅院,并在七峰山内屯兵遣将,现在尉迟敬德将军用过的“点将台”、“饮马沟”、“拴马桩”仍然保存完好。佛家弟子、儒家之人、仙家道士纷纷前来传经布道,留下许多千古佳话。至今丛麻禅院保存较好的古迹有0余处,每处都有动人的故事,感人肺腑。风景区内:其东七峰摩汉、其北崮石参天、其西仙洞锁烟、其南溪水潺潺、其中茂竹参天。崮西有诺 大的棋圣洞、神功仙洞、虎头驼峰、蜗牛石、求子洞、老虎洞、八仙台、苍鹰石、僧人的习武场、幸福园等许多景点。丛麻禅院千年古刹、万杆翠竹,奇石林立、橡树满园、鸟语花香,景色秀丽,空气新鲜,冬暖夏凉,气候宜人,十月红叶满山,十一月喜鹊相会,使人们在自然生态环境中心旷神怡。丛麻禅院景区素称“佛教圣地”、“风水宝地”、“世外桃源”。丛麻禅院,旅游圣地,竹美,山美,水美,人美,松竹各有所丽,四季如画;入春,满山开遍迎春花,花香每馥郁,沁人心脾;酷夏,绿树蔽日,翠竹婆娑,乘凉消暑,心旷神怡;深秋,满山红叶,层林尽染,一山锦绣,美不胜收;严冬,雪压松竹,银妆素裹,万树银花,乱琼碎玉,真是春见山容,夏见山气,秋见山骨。“何必见千里,自然生远心”,有朋自远方来,不亦乐乎。又称“七峰寺”,因周围险峰丛立如麻,故名“丛麻院”,已故原中国佛教协会会长赵朴初为寺院题写寺名,位于海阳市盘石镇东北约20华里海阳、乳山交界处的群山环抱中,始建于隋代,清咸丰二年重建。相传唐代开国元勋尉迟敬德曾在此养马生息,并主持扩建该寺。1993年,丛麻禅院被省宗教事务管理局列为省级佛教重要活动场所。丛麻禅院古寺占地8592平方米,原建筑为东西两院。西院为正道院,自前至后有山门、大殿、二殿、三殿;东院为和尚日常生活的宿舍伙房、客室及仓库等。古寺的东、南、北侧有一片北方罕见的翠竹林,将古寺紧紧环抱,西侧有方圆数百亩桑田。据碑文记载,其北崮石参天,其南溪水湍湍,其东七峰摩汉,其西仙洞锁岩。古寺周围山势峥嵘,奇峰怪石林立,胜景众多,其中大崮石和仙人洞当推为首。大崮石距地高200余尺,直插云霄,鬼斧神工,气势不凡。在大崮石的底部,前后有二处岩洞,前洞较大,可容纳40余人,传说这里过去是专供寺内有道行的和尚坐禅修炼成仙的地方,俗称仙人洞。
