微晶玻璃  又称玻璃陶瓷。由晶相和残余玻璃相组成的质地致密、无孔、均匀的熔结体。它是由某些玻璃加入一定量的成核剂(有时也不加),再经加热(称热敏)或(和)光照(称光敏)处理,使玻璃体内均匀地析出大量细小的晶体,而制成的透明或不透明材料。晶体尺寸一般小于0.1μm,晶体含量可达50%~90%(体积)。这类玻璃的机械强度、化学稳定性、电性能均优于普通玻璃,而生产工艺和使用原料却与普通玻璃相似,还可大量利用工业废料,成为20世纪60年代以来迅速发展的一种新型玻璃。    微晶玻璃通常按玻璃基质的组成,分为硅酸盐、铝硅酸盐、硼硅酸盐、硼酸盐、磷酸盐微晶玻璃五大类。它们的性能指标取决于晶体的种类、含量、大小及玻璃相的种类等。    微晶玻璃的生产流程与普通玻璃类似(熔制温度略高,达1500~1600°C),不同的是添加成核剂和进行微晶化热处理。成核剂有金、银、铜、二氧化钛、氧化锆及氟化钙、氟化钠等。光敏类配方中还需另加增感剂,如氧化硒、氧化锡等,目的在于促进成核,降低微晶化热处理温度。微晶化热处理的方法有阶梯保温(先在退火温度与转变温度之间,再在转变温度以上,约900°C左右)和特定温度下保温两种。后一种方法适用于具有较大转化热的一类玻璃。    玻璃相含量在15%~20%以上,且其膨胀系数大于晶相的玻璃陶瓷,也可以用淬火法来增强性能。    微晶玻璃在航空、核工业、火箭等方面用作工程结构材料,也可用作电绝缘、光学和建筑材料,还可用以制造烹饪器皿。磁性微晶玻璃可作电子计算机的记忆元件。
