电子供体 electron donor指在电子传递中供给电子的物质和接受氧化的物质。活体的氧化还原主要是以脱氢或脱电子反应来进行的,而脱氢反应伴有h+的生成,也可看作是脱电子反应,据认为两者都能从还原剂向氧化剂方向进行电子转移。例如:ah2+b→a2-+2h++b→a+b2-+2h+→a+bh2把受还原剂或氧化的物质(此时为ah2)称为电子供体或氢供体,氧化剂b称为电子受体或氢受体。在逆反应时,其关系恰好相反,一般电子供体的标准氧化还原电位要比电子受体低,只要产生电位差,便多半能引起逆反应。
