无水乙醇  又称无水酒精,指浓度大于99%(质量)的乙醇。主要作为溶剂,用于化妆品、制药等工业。一般制得的工业乙醇最高浓度为95%。为获得无水乙醇,可用下列三种方法进一步脱水:①用生石灰处理工业乙醇,使水转变成不溶解的氢氧化钙,然后蒸出乙醇,再用金属钠干燥,这是最老的方法。②共沸精馏脱水是目前工业上常用的方法。一般用苯作共沸剂,在第一共沸精馏塔中蒸出苯、乙醇和水的三元共沸混合物,再在第二共沸精馏塔中蒸出苯和乙醇的二元共沸物,最后在乙醇精馏塔中蒸出无水乙醇。由于苯在产品中还有约 0.5%(质量)的残留,而苯的毒性较大,近年来已开发了用正戊烷或己烷代替苯作共沸剂。③用离子交换剂或分子筛脱水,然后再精馏。
