褐鲣鸟褐鲣鸟Sulaleucogaster;brownbooby鹈形目鲣鸟科鲣鸟属的一种。分布在整个热带海洋。中国西沙群岛有繁殖记录,冬季北抵台湾和上海沿海一带。体型较大,体长约71~86厘米。嘴大而尖,端部具明显锯齿缘。雄性成鸟的嘴、眼周、喉囊裸露皮肤呈黄绿色;上体包括头、后颈、背和尾等大都褐色;下体除胸和前颈为褐色外,全为白色;脚淡黄色。雌雄成鸟羽色相同。半成体羽毛全为褐色,但腹部显然比胸部淡。喜群居,叫声洪亮。直接在地上用砂石堆积成巢,内铺以薄层羽毛、鱼骨等。每窝卵1~2枚。卵白色,平均大小58毫米×41毫米。鲣鸟是中国国家二级保护动物。
