三氟乙醇三氟乙醇2，2，2-trifluoroethanol2，2，2-三氟乙醇，具有醇的气味。熔点－45℃，沸点73.6℃，相对密度1.3822(25／4℃)。蒸馏时稳定，能与水和多种有机溶剂相混溶。具有能使尼龙(聚酰胺)和多肽溶解的特殊性质。由于具有极好的物理性质及热力学性质，与水混合后可作为兰肯引擎的工作液，从废热源中回收热能。化学上具有醇类的典型性质，通过各类氧化剂，如：用氯水或V2O5催化下以氧氧化，可得三氟乙醛或者三氟乙酸。三氟乙醇首先为斯乌阿兹催化还原三氟乙酸酐所得。另外的方法，如：三氟乙酰胺催化氢化，四氢化铝锂还原三氟乙酰氯或其酯。最近报导以氧化铜催化氢化2，2，2-三氟乙酸三氟乙酯可得三氟乙醇，产率高达95％。对人的毒性尚无可查。对小雄鼠50／100万～150／100万的长期暴露可使之睾丸受抑制，当百万分之十时无明显症状。但应当避免空气中的浓度达百万分之五，或者化合物与皮肤长期接触。
