如皋高等师范学校如皋高等师范学校,即原江苏省如皋师范学校，创办于清光绪二十八年（1902）九月，是我国第一所规范设置的师范学校，晚清进士、翰林院编修沙元炳任创办总理。学校初名“如皋公立简易师范学堂”，首开地方政府举办师范教育之先河。其后，学校历经县立、代用、省立、地属、市属之变迁，数易其名。民国元年（1912），更名为“如皋县立师范学校”；1921年，改名为“江苏省第二代用师范学校”；1932年，改称“江苏省立如皋师范学校”；1952年，定名为“江苏省如皋师范学校”。2005年4月，全省师范教育布局调整，学校升格为“如皋高等师范学校”，增挂“江苏教育学院如皋分院”校牌。建校伊始，学校就立“贵全”为教育宗旨，以“真实”为校训，以“沈笃醇和”为校风，旨在“养成爱国志气、良善性情、强健体魄、谙练小学教法之师范生”。新中国成立后，尤其是改革开放以来，学校全面贯彻党的教育方针，坚持正确的办学方向，努力探索师范教育的客观规律。学校首倡师范教育师范化，坚持突出师范性；在省内首批开办了中师英语教育专业；较早开展了培养大专层次小学教师的尝试；艺术教育源远流长；多媒体教育技术领先一步；师生教学科研成果卓著，毕业生综合素质名闻遐迩。进入新世纪，学校以科学发展观统领工作全局，以百年校庆为契机，始终围绕质量和效益这个根本，突出质量、管理为核心的内涵发展，全面推进“做优师范、多元开拓”的综合发展战略，在队伍建设、专业设置、办学合作、校园整饰以及效益提升等方面都实现了历史性跨越。学校聘有英语、日语外籍教师，是省市定点的英语骨干师资培训基地和口语强化基地。2004年，在中马双方政府部门的大力支持下，学校与马来西亚科技大学正式签约，拥有了全方位合作办学的海外基地。一百年来，学校秉承“真实”校训和“贵全”宗旨，注重人文精神、道德情感的陶冶提升，强化传统文化、科学知识的传承吸收，教学与科研并重，修身与治学互动，在师范教育改革和发展的历史进程中迈出了可喜的步伐，取得了丰硕的成果，走出了一条内功至上、特色鲜明的“如师之路”。过去的一百年，如皋师范桃李芬芳，硕果累累；已经开始的新百年，如皋高等师范学校必将开拓奋进，谱写崭新华章！
