茁长素 一类植物生长激素的统称。天然存在的茁长素类物质有吲哚 -3-乙酸、吲哚-3-乙醛、吲哚-3-乙腈、抗坏血精等。其中最重要的是吲哚 -3-乙酸,又称杂茁长素,1934年由F.克格尔首先从酵母的培养液中提纯;分子式C10H9NO2;为叶片状晶体;熔点168~170°C;溶于乙醇、丙酮和乙醚,难溶于水和氯仿。吲哚-3-乙酸在植物体内生物合成的前体是色氨酸(见氨基酸)。 茁长素的基本作用在于调节植物的生长,不仅能促进生长,而且具有抑制生长和器官建成的作用。茁长素在植物细胞内不仅以游离状态存在,也有与生物高分子(见高分子化合物)等牢固结合的束缚型茁长素,也有与特殊物质形成结合物的茁长素,例如吲哚乙酰基天门冬酰胺、吲哚乙酸阿戊糖和吲哚乙酰葡萄糖等。这可能是茁长素在细胞内的一种贮藏方式,也是解除过剩茁长素毒害的解毒方式。合成的茁长素类物质有β-萘氧乙酸,2,4-二氯苯氧乙酸和2,4,5-三氯苯甲酸等。
