马里兰号（bb-46）1917年4月开工，1920年3月下水，1921年7月服役。是美国海军科罗拉多级战列舰中的一艘。由于配备16英寸的火炮和新式的水上飞机弹射器，服役之初的马里兰号经常要出席一些特殊场合，包括海军学院的毕业典礼和国庆庆典等。1923年6月，马里兰号从东海岸通过巴拿马海峡到达西海岸，参加了一系列到澳大利亚和新西兰的访问后，驻留在西海岸。而后的十几年中，马里兰号成为太平洋舰队的中流砥柱。1940年，马里兰号随其它战舰一起移师珍珠港。1941年12月7日晨，马里兰号上一名水手正好在高射机枪旁边写信，这时日本飞机发动了进攻，这名水手立即开枪射击，并击落了一架飞机。由于马里兰号停在俄克拉荷马号的内侧，所以没有受到鱼雷的袭击，但有两颗炸弹击中的马里兰号，并且一颗穿透了甲板在机舱内爆炸，致使马里兰号纵向发生倾斜。初步维修后，马里兰号于12月底返回pudget sound 进行大修和现代化改装。马里兰号1942年初就返回珍珠港，但由于速度跟不上快速航空母舰，在中途岛战役中只能作为后备力量。在太平洋进入反击前，马里兰号只作为护卫力量保卫通往澳大利亚的运输线。期间在珍珠港又进行数次改装。1943年底在吉尔伯特群岛登陆战中、在1944年初马绍尔群岛的两栖作战中以及在1944年5月的塞班岛的登陆中，马里兰号终于发挥了其16英寸舰炮的威力，将成吨的钢铁倾泻在敌人的阵地上。而后马里兰号得到了“好斗的马丽”一绰号。1944年10月，马里兰号参与了收复菲律宾的战役。在莱特湾夜战中，马里兰号和其它5艘战列舰和8艘巡洋舰借助雷达大发神威，16和14英寸的炮弹跨过20公里的海面和上面的驱逐舰、鱼雷艇准确地被送到日本山城号和最上号巡洋舰的舰桥上。在于1945年3月开始的冲绳登陆战中，马里兰号再次作为压制火力参与登陆的准备。4月3日，明尼阿伯利斯号巡洋舰由于其8英寸的舰炮不能压制住岸上的火炮而向马里兰号求助，马里兰号立即用6发16英寸的炮弹结果了岸上的碉堡。而后的1个月中，马里兰号的16英寸舰炮也一直没有停，直至4月7日，一架神风飞机带着500磅的炸弹冲到马里兰号3号炮塔之上。随后，马里兰号退出了战役返回了珍珠港。马里兰号再次驶出珍珠港的时候，留给她的只有最后一个行动了－“魔毯行动”。从1945年8月之后的4个月中，马里兰号将8000名战士从珍珠港送回了西海岸。1946年4月，马里兰号解除现役，1947年4月，退役。1959卖给learner co., oakland, ca.拆除。1961年2月，马里兰州州长塔瓦斯为纪念“好斗的马丽”和其上的所有官兵，在其州府安纳波利斯建了一座花冈岩和青铜的纪念碑。马里兰号在二战中共获得了7枚战斗之星勋章。标准排水量 32500吨长度 624英尺主炮 4座双联装16英寸主炮副炮 26座5英寸火炮防空火炮 40座40mm火炮，64座20mm高射炮(bb-48)设计功率 28900马力(bb-48)设计航速 21节设计舰员 1500人
