沙门氏菌属  肠杆菌科的 1属。因美国病理学家D.E.沙门于1884年发现本属菌中的猪霍乱杆菌而得名。本属菌是一群抗原构造和生物学性状相似的革兰氏阴性杆菌。菌型繁多,已发现有2000种以上的血清型。能对人和少数温血动物致病。    菌体大小(0.6~0.9)×(1~3)微米无芽胞,一般无荚膜,除鸡白痢沙门氏菌和鸡伤寒沙门氏菌外,大多有周身鞭毛。营养要求不高,分离培养常采用肠道选择鉴别培养基。生化反应对本属菌的鉴别具有重要参考意义(见表)。不液化明胶,不分解尿素,不产生吲哚,不发酵乳糖和蔗糖,能发酵葡萄糖、甘露醇、麦芽糖和卫芽糖,大多产酸产气,少数只产酸不产气。VP试验阴性,有赖氨酸脱羧酶。DNA的G+C含量为50~53%。对热抵抗力不强,在60℃15分钟可被杀死。在水中存活2~3周。在5%的石炭酸中,5分钟死亡。      本属菌按生化反应分为 4个亚属。亚属Ⅰ是生化反应典型的和最常见的沙门氏菌;亚属Ⅱ和Ⅳ是生化反应不典型的沙门氏菌;亚属Ⅲ是亚利桑那沙门氏菌。    沙门氏菌具有复杂的抗原结构,一般可分为菌体(O)抗原、鞭毛(H)抗原和表面(Vi)抗原3种。    沙门氏菌通过消化道传染致病,统称为沙门氏菌病。引起人类疾病的沙门氏菌大多属于A、B、C、D、E5个血清群,病型有①伤寒与副伤寒(统称肠热症):由伤寒沙门氏菌、甲型和乙型副伤寒沙门氏菌等引起;②食物中毒:可由不同菌型引起,以鼠伤寒沙门氏菌、肠炎沙门氏菌、汤卜逊沙门氏菌等最为常见;③败血症:由猪霍乱沙门氏菌等引起,此外,还可引起慢性肠炎。    对禽兽致病的沙门氏菌大多属于B~E血清群。以侵害幼年动物为主,发生急性败血症、胃肠炎以及其他局部炎症。对成年动物常引起局部慢性或隐性疾病。患沙门氏菌病痊愈的动物具有一定的免疫力。能抗再感染。但局部慢性患病的动物免疫力不强,在疾病恢复期间常成为带菌者。目前,对猪伤寒、马流产等11种传染病已使用菌苗。
