流言流言rumor在人们之间相互传播的有关某种社会现实问题的不确切消息。传播的方式一般是口头的、非正式的、非官方的。在这些方面它与谣言有共同之处，但谣言有故意捏造、恶意攻击、有蛊惑人心的性质，而流言一般不是故意去伤害某人。某些流言具有消极的作用，甚至引起社会混乱，但它在动机和目的上与谣言是有区别的。故意散布的“流言蜚语”则属谣言的范畴。流言传播过程有3个特点：①一般化。传播时会遗漏许多具体细节，流失很多信息，使内容变得越来越简略而扼要。②强调化。某些内容引起听者的注意，留下较深刻印象，因而变得更加突出。③同化。流言接受者根据自己的已有经验、知识、习惯、态度、兴趣、需要、情绪等主观因素来理解流言的内容，凡是符合他的这些主观状况的，他就会接受下来，同时对各种内容按照他自己认为合乎逻辑的系统加以归纳整理，进一步加工，甚至添加枝节，然后再传播。所以最初产生的流言到最后可能已经变得面目全非。根据流言产生和传播的动机，可以把它分为4种：①反映社会公众对于某人某事的一种强烈的共同愿望的流言。②由于对某事物的好奇而产生的流言。③因不安、恐惧而产生的流言。④为发泄对某人某事的妒忌、憎恨以至敌视情绪而产生的流言。
