磁致伸缩磁致伸缩magnetostriction强磁物质在外磁场作用下,其体积和形状发生变化的现象。每个磁畴(见铁磁性、磁介质)的自发磁化来源于相邻原子中不配对电子的自旋磁矩的强耦合作用,这种作用可使晶体点阵产生畸变,表现为磁畴的体积和形状的改变,此称为自发形变。当外加磁场时,磁畴结构和磁化状态发生改变,引起磁畴自发形态的变化,从而使强磁体的体积和长度均发生改变,前者称为体磁致伸缩,后者称线磁致伸缩。线磁致伸缩与晶体的各向异性有关,因而具有方向性;体磁致伸缩来源于电子的交换作用,因而是各向同性的。当以交变磁场作用于强磁体时,由于磁致伸缩而引起磁体的机械振动。此原理已用于产生超声波的换能器。当强磁体受到外力作用时,除像一般固体那样要产生弹性形变外,还会产生磁致伸缩性形变。后者是由于应力使磁畴结构和磁化状态发生变化,进一步引起磁畴的形变,称为力致伸缩,又称磁弹性效应。以声振动作用于强磁体时,其磁化强度将随声振动变化。晶体点阵作不断的热振动,其声频支(见点阵动力学)就能产生磁弹性效应。上述交变磁场引起的声振动和声振动引起的磁化强度的变化均属磁化状态与弹性形变间的相互转换和相互作用问题,统称磁声效应。
