激光功率或能量测量  包括连续激光功率、脉冲激光能量、脉冲激光峰值功率、相对空间功率(能量)分布、相对频谱功率(能量)分布、光束轮廓或线型(振幅和相位分布)等激光辐射参数的测量。与此有关的学科称为激光辐射度学。激光功率(能量)测量同一般光辐射测量不同之处,是它通常测量的不是均匀的光辐射场,而是非均匀的光辐射束(其典型情况是高斯光束)。激光光束直径一般为1~20毫米。因此,不仅需要测量连续激光辐射,还需要测量各种脉冲激光辐射(包括超短脉冲激光辐射),其持续时间通常在10-3~10-8秒,有时短至10-12秒。激光功率(能量)测量是一种强光辐射测量,连续激光光束的功率可达102~104瓦,单个脉冲激光的能量可达10~103焦,而脉冲激光的峰值功率则可达109~1011瓦。激光功率(能量)可以利用激光辐射与物质相互作用的各种效应来测量,其中尤以激光辐射的热效应和电效应得到广泛的利用。光热型测量仪器利用黑层或其他特殊材料来吸收激光,然后用温差热电偶或热释电晶体等热敏元件来探测材料吸收激光后的温升,适合于宽波段工作。光电型测量仪器利用光伏元件、光导元件或光发射元件为探测器。它具有快速测量的特点,可测量激光功率(能量)的瞬时值以追踪瞬态过程。激光空间特性参量的测量,需要应用阵列探测元件和全息技术;强激光和脉冲激光的测量须防止激光对接收面的损伤;弱激光的测量则须屏蔽对激光探测器件的干扰。激光功率(能量)计量的主要标准装置是高精度的绝对型激光功率(能量)计,即可用电功率(电能)进行精确自校准的激光功率(能量)计。各种不同等级的激光功率(能量)测量仪器须在标准装置上进行分度和检定。
