真空炉  炉膛内的压力能抽成低于大气压力的工业炉。真空炉用电加热,被加热的工件表面不氧化,不脱碳,变形小,机械性能好。用真空炉熔炼金属有利于除去杂质,成品针孔少,偏析小、质量好。真空炉适用于高质量、高纯度、难熔金属的熔炼和加热,例如用于钨、钼、钽、铌、钛、耐热合金钢的冶炼和磁性材料,电工材料、高强钢、不锈钢、工具钢、模具钢等的热处理。    真空炉出现于20世纪30年代前后。1927年美国制成电工材料真空退火炉。1953年真空自耗电弧炉在工业上已用于熔炼海绵钛。50年代前后真空感应炉在工业上得到广泛应用。1960年美国研制成油淬真空炉。    真空炉一般由炉膛、电热装置、密封炉壳、真空系统、供电系统和控温系统等组成。密封炉壳用碳钢或不锈钢焊成,可拆卸部件的接合面用真空密封材料密封。为防止炉壳受热后变形和密封材料受热变质,炉壳一般用水冷或气冷降温。炉膛位于密封炉壳内。根据炉子用途,炉膛内部装有不同类型的加热元件,如电阻、感应线圈、电极和电子枪等。熔炼金属的真空炉炉膛内装有坩埚,有的还装有自动浇注装置和装卸料的机械手等。真空系统主要由真空泵、真空阀门和真空计等组成。    真空炉按加热元件分为真空电阻炉、真空感应炉、真空电弧炉、真空自耗电弧炉、电子束炉(又称电子轰击炉)和等离子炉等。图为真空电弧炉的示意图。
