日本血吸虫(血吸虫)国内分布于南方各省区;国外分布在日本。小型个体,雄虫长12-24毫米,宽0.50-0.55毫米,体表基本光滑或仅有极小的棘。睾丸7个,排为一行;雌虫有卵巢一个,长圆形。子宫颈长,其中含有50个以上的虫卵。体呈紫色。成虫寄生于人或其他哺乳动物的膜系膜静脉中,雌雄虫经常抱在一起。雌虫产卵于肠壁,随粪便排出体外,在水中孵出毛蚴,如遇钉螺则侵入其体中,毛蚴在钉螺体内经过无性生殖,产生大量的尾蚴。尾蚴自螺体内逸出后,借尾部摆动,遇到人或易感染的动物而从皮肤钻入,引发感染。其寄生能引起人和动物的血吸虫病。应积极预防,大力灭螺,以免感染。
