爬山调 中国民歌中山歌类的一种。主要流行于内蒙古自治区西部地区和河北张家口地区。 爬山调的歌词多为即兴创作，句式比较自由，两句为一段，常用直叙、起兴、比喻、对比、反复重叠和夸张等表现手法。歌词的语言纯朴自然，富有生活气息。 爬山调的音乐大都高亢粗犷。它的曲调常以其流行的地区命名,如"河套调"、"后套调"、"土默川调"、"大青山调"、"伊盟调"、"河路调"等。歌曲的结构短小而富有变化,以上下两个乐句8个小节构成的乐段为它的基本结构形式。两个乐句大都是变化重复的关系,有的甚至是完全不变的重复。为了加强表现，它常常运用加衬、加垛或者把速度放慢、节奏拉宽等手法，使乐句的句幅延伸，结构扩充。有的曲调长达十几个小节，有的把一句变成两句，发展成为具有复乐段性质的变化结构。爬山调的曲调以五声或六声的徵调式为最多，商调式、羽调式次之。歌曲的曲调、节奏由于流行地区的不同而有所差异。一般地说，流行于平原地区的爬山调（如河套调和土默川调）节奏比较匀称规整，旋律的起伏比较小、音域比较窄，音调平和柔美；而流行在山区的爬山调（如后山调）节奏则自由多变，旋律跳进多、起伏大、音域广，音调高亢挺拔，开阔奔放。 由于内蒙古西部地区和山西西北部为邻，所以流行于内蒙古西部的爬山调和流行于山西西北部的山曲的关系密切。在这一带蒙汉杂居区的爬山调中又常含有蒙古族民歌的音调。
