蜡梅科蜡梅科Calycanthaceae双子叶植物纲木兰亚纲的一个小科。灌木,具油细胞。单叶对生,全缘或近全缘。花两性,辐射对称。花萼与花瓣无明显区分,雄蕊5~30,着生于花托边缘,退化雄蕊5~25。线形至线状披针形;心皮少数至多数,分离,着生于杯状花托内。聚合瘦果着生于坛状的果托中。共2属7种,分布于亚洲东南部、东部和美洲北部。中国有2属4种,产西南部、南部、长江流域以南,以及山东、陕西等省。代表种有蜡梅、夏蜡梅。蜡梅原产中国长江中下游各省,生长于1500米以下山地。世界上已广泛栽培。为落叶灌木,小枝微具四棱,棕褐色。叶椭圆状、卵形或卵状披针形,叶面深绿色,粗糙。花黄色,芳香,心皮基部被疏硬毛,花柱长为子房的3倍,基部被毛。果托近木质化,坛状或倒卵状椭圆形,花期从12月到翌年2月。花可提取芳香油,花药用于清凉、解毒、生津。根、茎入药,有镇咳止喘功效。花大美丽,可供庭园观赏。蜡梅
