截留截留interception植物茎叶枝干拦截降水的现象。降雨时,最先落在植物茎叶上的雨滴几乎全部被茎叶枝干表面截留,聚集起离散的水珠,随后水珠相互连接,形成铺盖在枝叶面上的薄水层,水层不断增厚,当水层的重力超过枝叶与水之间的附着力时,一部分水向下跌落或沿枝茎流到地面。此后,枝叶上的水分不断被新落下的雨水所代替,只有留存在枝叶上的那部分水,才成为植物截留。降雨停止后,截留的水分耗于蒸发。植物截留量有两部分,一部分是降水过程中从枝叶面蒸发的水量,另一部分是降雨终止时存留在植物枝叶面上的水量,这部分水量,最后也耗于蒸发。截留量的大小与降水量、降雨强度、降雨历时、风、植物种类和枝叶茂密程度有关。在径流形成中,截留是一种损失,据观测试验资料,茂密的植被一年中截留的水量可达年降水量的25%~30%。它减少达到地面的降水量,即减少地面径流。截留量主要通过在树冠、树干、树下和林间空地分别设置雨量计,观测对比确定。
