急流急流jetstreams位于对流层上层或平流层中的强而窄的气流。一般长几千千米,宽几百千米,厚几千米。急流中心的长轴称为急流轴,它近于水平。在急流轴线附近,风速的切变很强,铅直切变约为每千米5~10米/秒,水平切变约达每百千米5米/秒。急流的中心风速一般为50~80米/秒,有时可达100~150米/秒,在冬季偶尔可达150~180米/秒。根据急流的形成区域和结构不同可分为极锋急流、副热带急流、热带东风急流和极夜急流。①极锋急流。又称温带急流。它是和极锋相联系的西风急流。大约出现在600百帕极锋区上空对流层顶附近,中心强度和位置变化很大。②副热带急流。又称副热带西风急流。它出现在热带对流层顶和中纬度对流层顶的过渡地带,在副热带锋上空约200百帕高度处。③热带东风急流。主要是指出现在北半球夏季亚洲和非洲热带对流层顶附近的一支东风急流。急流轴线位于100~150百帕等压面上,强中心在阿拉伯海上空。④平流层极夜西风急流。简称极夜急流。在极地区域50~60千米上空形成的一支西风急流,它向下可延伸到20~30千米高度处,因此在50百帕等压面的图上,就可见到这支急流。它是冬季平流层环流很重要的一种特征。
