“哈勃”观测到海王星春季开始(图)天文学家借助于“哈勃”太空望远镜对海王星进行为期6年的观察表明,海王星这几年开始明显变亮,最明显的变化发生在海王星的南半球:云带变得非常清晰,云带也变得更宽和更亮(见图片)。科学家认为,这说明海王星在发生季节性气候变化,就像我们在地球上观察到的季节性气候变化一样。海王星是太阳系第8颗行星,其轨道半径比地球到太阳的距离大30.1倍。地球上每年的季节性变化是由于地球旋转轴向轨道平面倾斜而发生,旋转轴与轨道平面法线之间的角度为23.5°,而海王星的旋转轴也存在倾斜,只是与轨道平面法线的夹角稍大些——29°。海王星上的气候十分恶劣,经常刮强烈风暴和飓风,飓风速度有时可达到1500千米/小时。虽然海王星云带亮度的增强早在20世纪80年代就已发现,但是海王星的季节性变化只是借助于“哈勃”太空望远镜在最近才被证实的。虽然海王星像地球一样也有一年四季,但是在地球上每季只有3个月,而海王星每季超过40年,因为它围绕太阳运转一周需要约165地球年,因此海王星南半球亮度增强将还可以观察20年。确实,天文学家没有指望在海王星上发现季节性变化,因为海王星远离太阳,所以照在海王星上的太阳光亮度比照在地球上的太阳光亮度弱900多倍。但是即使是太阳光这样“弱”的亮度变化也会引起海王星大气中的一定变化,从而会引起气候的改变。不过,海王星内部热源也会影响这一作用过程。总之,海王星由于远离太阳而辐射很弱。对于太阳系中最遥远的冥王星,美国宇航局仍然准备在2006年向它发射探测器,而海王星目前尚未列入计划中。
