樟科樟科Lauraceae双子叶植物纲木兰亚纲的一科。大多为乔木或灌木,仅有无根藤属为缠绕寄生草本;常有含油或粘液的细胞。叶互生,对生,近对生或轮生,革质,有时为膜质或纸质,全缘,极少分裂,羽状脉,三出脉或离基三出脉,小脉常为密网状;无托叶。花组成腋生或近顶生的圆锥花序、总状花序、近伞形花序或团伞花序;花两性或单性,辐射对称,花被通常3基数,亦有2基数,呈萼片状,基部合生成筒,裂片6或4,排成两轮,大小相等或外轮的较小,花被筒短或很短,有的花后增大变成杯状或盘状的果托;雄蕊着生在花被筒的喉部,数目一定,稀数目不定,通常排列呈4轮,每轮2~4,花丝基部有2腺体或无,有时部分雄蕊特别是最内轮的雄蕊不发育,成为退化雄蕊,花药2~4室,以裂瓣开裂,子房上位1室,有胚珠1颗,花柱1,柱头盘状,扩大或开裂,有时不明显。果为浆果状核果,有时为宿存的花被或花被筒承托,部分包围或全部封闭;果梗圆柱形,有时肉质。该科约45属,2000~2500种,分布于热带,但有些种类分布到亚热带甚至暖温带。中国约有20属(其中鳄梨属和月桂属为引种栽培)420余种。主要分布在云南、四川、广西、广东及台湾等省区。该科经济植物繁多,用途很广。鳄梨是营养价值很高的一种水果,其果仁富含油脂。月桂的叶是一种很好的调味香料或作罐头的矫味剂。很多种类如玫瑰木、樟树、黄樟等提供轻工和医药工业上用的芳香油。樟树(见樟)和黄樟还可生产樟脑。山鸡椒、木姜子等的果实和枝叶含芳香油。樟属、木姜子属、山胡椒属、油果樟属、厚壳桂属、黄肉楠属中不少种类的果实还含有丰富的油脂。桂皮(肉桂、锡兰肉桂)、马佐厚壳桂、香皮木姜子等的树皮含芳香油,其中有些种的果实还可食用。乌药以及桂皮都是有名的中药。樟树
