志留纪志留纪(距今约4.39亿年~距今约4.09亿年)SilurianPeriod古生代第三个纪。这一时期形成的地层称志留系,位于奥陶系之上,泥盆系之下。1835年,英国地质学家R.莫企逊根据威尔士出露的地层,建立了广义的志留系。志留一名来源于威尔士地区一古老部族的名称。1879年,英国地质学家C.拉普沃斯把莫企逊建立的志留系的下部划归奥陶系(见早古生代)。志留纪地层的顶界以等宽单笔石生物带的底界为界,并选择捷克的克伦克剖面作为其界线层型剖面;底界以尖削拟尖笔石生物带的底界为界,其界线层型选定苏格兰莫弗特地区的多斯林恩剖面。志留系自下而上包括4个统:①兰多维利统。标准地层在英国威尔士南部达费德的兰多维利镇附近,自下而上分为鲁丹阶、阿埃罗尼安阶和特利奇阶。②文洛克统。标准地区在英格兰什罗普郡的文洛克地区,包括下部的谢因伍德阶和上部霍麦尔阶。③罗德洛统。标准地区在英格兰什罗普郡的罗德洛地区,自下而上为格斯特阶和路德福德阶。④普里道利统。标准地区在捷克的巴兰德地区。中国的志留系,以在扬子地区的兰多维利统发育最好,是研究兰多维利统必不可少的关键地区。在扬子地区的兰多维利世,初期为含笔石的黑色页岩和页岩;中、晚期普遍出现碳酸盐地层;晚期在扬子地区北缘出现生物岩礁和海相红层。志留纪生物比奥陶纪类别更加繁多。海生无脊椎动物在志留纪时仍然占重要地位。脊椎动物无颚类进一步发展,盾皮鱼类出现于志留纪晚期。植物除海生藻类仍然繁盛以外,晚志留世末期,陆生植物中裸蕨植物初次出现,植物从水中向陆地发展,为生物演化的重要事件。无脊椎动物,最常见的化石有笔石、腕足类和珊瑚等。笔石带是志留系分统分阶界线的主要依据。牙形石在志留纪仍稳定发展,它演化快、分布广,为志留纪地层对比的重要化石。志留纪笔石群的生物地理分区不明显。志留纪生物示意图志留纪初期出现全球性海侵,末期发生加里东运动。志留纪初期,南极冰盖迅速消融,导致海洋和大气环流减弱,纬向气候分带不明显,深海部分相对较暖,含氧量较低,易成滞流。因此,除高纬度的冈瓦纳大陆外,其他陆块大都处于干热或温暖的气候。志留纪是一个沉积矿产贫乏的时期。主要沉积矿产有北美地台上的克林顿沉积铁矿;阿尔及利亚、利比亚和撒哈拉中部的石油;在中国西秦岭地区,黑色页岩中放射性元素富集;在东秦岭石煤也具有开采价值,并与铀、钒、钼、镍、钴等元素伴生。
