海洋沉积物间隙水  占据海底沉积物颗粒之间及岩石颗粒之间孔隙的水溶液,也叫孔隙水。它是地球水圈的一部分,其成分反映了沉积过程中及海水与沉积物埋藏后发生的各种变化历程。因此,间隙水的组成和海水不同。    海洋中的悬浮物质沉降到海底时,开始都呈松散状态,成层状分布,其中挟带有海水。经过压实、胶结和重结晶等成岩作用,深层沉积物的固结状况和成分与表层不同,沉积物间隙水的组成也随沉积的深度不同而变化。影响间隙水组成的这种变化的主要因素为:①沉积速率,②氧化还原电位,③沉积物中有机物的含量。这3 个因素互有影响。例如,当沉积速率较小时,沉积物中的有机物在分解过程中消耗的主要是海水溶解氧,因此间隙水的氧化还原电位随着降低。由于有较充裕的时间进行分子扩散,上覆水和间隙水中的组成比较接近,从而在一定沉积深度之下,间隙水的组成不再有很大的变化。当沉积速率较大时,沉积物挟带的有机物很快被埋藏起来,难以被上覆水中的溶解氧所氧化,因而有较多的有机物能够保存在沉积层中,随后逐渐被间隙水中的硝酸盐或硫酸盐所氧化,这种情况下,间隙水的氧化还原电位降低得更多,造成还原性很强的环境,使有机物进一步分解而生成甲烷,使间隙水中的硫酸根离子还原为氢硫根离子,并有黄铁矿生成。    除上述因素外,沉积物中矿物的形成和溶解等作用对间隙水的组成也有影响。例如,大洋沉积物的沉积速率一般较慢,但在沉积物较深处,由于逐渐生成的蒙脱石能吸附镁离子,进而使镁离子嵌入其晶格的夹层中,使间隙水中的镁随深度的增加而减少;同时由于钾长石的生成及碳酸钙或钙斜长石的溶解,使间隙水中的钾减少而钙增多。此外,由于大洋沉积物中碳酸盐的重结晶作用,使间隙水中18O/16O的比值增高;而火山物质的蚀变作用,使87Sr/86Sr的比值降低。    沉积物中的微量金属,常以氧化物、氢氧化物、碳酸盐、磷酸盐和硫化物等的形式存在,它们在间隙水中的浓度,可因微量金属离子与配位体形成络离子而使其溶解度剧增,使浓度增大;又可因有粘土矿物或水合氧化物等固体物质存在,吸附了一部分微量金属离子而使浓度降低。在通常采集到的沉积物间隙水中,微量金属元素的浓度,大都比海水中高1~2个数量级。    沉积物间隙水的组成,不但随沉积的深度而异,而且有区域分布,这和海洋沉积过程、成岩过程和生物扰动有密切的关系。
