耗散结构理论 非平衡态热力学和统计物理学中的一种学说。它由比利时科学家 I.普里高津(1917～ )于 1969年提出。按照这种学说，一个远离平衡态的开放系统，当某个参量的变化达到一定的阈值时，通过涨落，有可能发生突变，即由原来的无序状态转变为一种在空间、时间或功能上有序的状态。这种稳定有序状态的宏观结构，就叫做耗散结构。系统的这种自行产生组织性的行为叫做自组织现象。因此，耗散结构理论又称为非平衡系统的自组织理论。 耗散结构理论以时间的不对称性、不可逆性和系统的复杂性作为出发点,并根据热力学第二定律,讨论了自然界的发展方向问题。在19世纪，关于自然界的发展方向有两种对立的观点。R.E.格劳修乌斯(1822～1888)认为，自然界的发展是从有序到无序,从复杂到简单,最后达到宇宙"热寂"的退化过程（见"热寂说"）。C.R.达尔文则认为，生命从单细胞到人类的发展是从无序到有序,从简单到复杂的进化过程。从现象上看,生命世界和物理世界似乎有着完全不同的规律和发展方向，这就产生了热力学和进化论的矛盾。耗散结构理论指出，一个开放系统通过与外界交换物质和能量，可以从外界吸收负熵流抵消自身的熵产生，使系统的总熵保持不变或逐步减小，实现从无序向有序的转化，从而形成并维持一个低熵的非平衡态的有序结构。这就表明，自然界中两种相反的发展方向可以在不同条件下存在于同一个总过程之中，并在这个意义上解决了进化与退化的矛盾。 产生耗散结构，除了要求一个远离平衡态的系统从外界吸收负熵流以外，还需要系统内部各个要素之间存在着非线性的相互作用。这种相互作用会使系统产生协同作用和相干效应，通过随机的涨落，系统就会从无序转为有序，形成新的稳定的结构。从这个意义上说，非平衡是有序之源，涨落导致有序。反之，如果系统处于平衡或近平衡态，则涨落是破坏有序的因素，它会使系统向无序方向发展。 耗散结构理论表明，系统存在着复杂性和整体性。因此，必须把动力学规律与统计学规律、决定性和随机性、必然性和偶然性结合起来，才能正确描述系统的量变与质变、无序与有序相互更迭的发展过程。
