帕克帕克（1837～1902）Parker，FrancisWayland美国教育家。进步教育运动的先驱。生于新罕布什尔州。16岁开始教学生涯，曾任乡村学校教师、校长。1872年赴欧洲考察教育，主要研究J.H.裴斯泰洛齐、J.F.赫尔巴特和F.W.A.福禄贝尔的新教育思想和各国教育改革的经验。1875～1880年在马萨诸塞州昆西市任督学时，首次提出“教育要使学校适应儿童，而不是使儿童适应学校”的原则。在教育理论、课程和方法上进行了许多改革：废止旧的课程计划，引进全新的实验课程计划，新计划对课程不作死板的一致要求，而是因人而异，因材施教；禁止体罚和强迫纪律；废除背诵法，强调领悟与理解；废止单纯填鸭式的灌输，增设手工、游戏等科目，使课堂充满生动活泼和愉快的气氛。帕克强调儿童是教学活动的中心，一切精神的、道德的活动都有赖于儿童的自我活动。其教育思想与教育改革实践形成昆西教育更新运动，给美国教育以很大影响。著有《教育方法谈话》和《怎样学习地理》等。
