高分子辐照降解  在高能射线作用下,高分子发生主链断裂或老化变性的过程。辐照降解属于无规降解。一般热降解往往从某些不稳定的端基开始,分解得到大量的单体,分子量较低的聚合物产率则较低,而利用辐照降解方法可制取分子量大小不同的高分子,反应产率较高(见高分子降解、高分子热降解)。    最典型的辐照降解的高分子是聚异丁烯、聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯和聚四氟乙烯等,天然高分子纤维素及其衍生物也属此类。高分子辐照降解可以在室温进行,射线源一般用钴60或电子加速器,辐照剂量视高分子结构不同可以在106~109拉德范围内。辐照降解主要是由于射线打断高分子主链后所形成的自由基,由于结构因素(如空间位阻效应等)的影响难于进行偶合反应,而只进行歧化或链转移反应,使分子量迅速下降。平均分子量下降的速度与辐照剂量成线性关系,因而可以用辐照剂量来控制所需要的产物分子量。在制备某些不易用聚合方法合成的低分子量的聚合物,如工业用的低分子量的聚氧化乙烯时,就采用这种方法。聚四氟乙烯废料经辐照降解后可得到粒度为几个微米的细粉,称为聚四氟乙烯蜡,生产过程简单,蜡收率高,产生毒性气体少,可用作润滑油的添加剂及耐温、耐摩擦材料的填料。
