科南特科南特（1893～1978）Conant，James-Bryant美国教育家，科学家。1893年3月26日生，1978年2月11日卒。1913年在哈佛大学获文学士学位，1916年获同校哲学博士学位。1919年起任教于哈佛大学，1933～1953年任该校校长。1955～1957年任美国驻联邦德国大使。图片在20世纪50年代末的美国教育改革中，他抨击美国学校忽视学术标准，不利于培养大批科技人才。倡导加强普通教育，特别是数学、自然科学和外语的教学，加速人才开发，提倡天才教育。他反对轻视学习系统知识的实用主义教育主张，坚持基础知识的传授和基本技能的训练。他要求所有的学生都要学习4年英语、3～4年社会研究、1年数学、1年自然科学。提倡各门学科按照学生的能力分组进行教学。一个学生在某一门学科被分到高级组学习，在另一门学科则可能被分到中级组或低级组学习。在学习进程中，学生可根据自己的能力变化由低、中级组转入高级组，或由高级组转入中级组或低级组。强调及早发现天才，并对他们进行特殊教育。认为在中学生中存在15％的天才，2％～3％的超天才。建议在超天才较多的学校设特别班，提前教授大学课程。要求加强中小学师资的职前训练和在职培训，全面提高师资质量。他还十分重视改善贫民区学校，加强对贫民青年的教育。教育著作有《今日美国中学》、《美国师范教育》和《教育政策形成》。科学及科普著作有《实用化学》、《有机化合物化学》和《论了解科学》等。
