龙卷龙卷tornado自积雨云底部下垂的漏斗状云及其所伴随的非常强烈的旋风。一种破坏力最强的小尺度天气系统。又称龙卷风。由于漏斗状云内气压很低，具有很强的吮吸作用，当漏斗云伸到陆地表面时，可把大量沙尘等吸到空中，形成尘柱，称陆龙卷；当它伸到海面时，能吸起高大水柱，称海龙卷（或水龙卷）。海龙卷一般较陆龙卷弱，水平范围也比陆龙卷小。历史上有关下降银币雨、青蛙雨、黄豆雨等的记载，都是龙卷将地面或水中的物体吸上天空，带到远处随雨降落所致。龙卷的直径约几米至几百米，移动距离一般为几百米至几千米，个别可达几十千米以上。龙卷的中心气压极低，一般比同高度四周低几十百帕，风速和上升速度都很大。龙卷中心附近的风速一般约为每秒几十至100米，极端情况可达150米／秒以上，最大上升速度可达每秒几十米甚至上百米。龙卷的旋转方向在北半球一般都是逆时针的，但也有少数顺时针的。龙卷出现在一个尺度为几十千米左右的龙卷气旋之中。龙卷气旋可延伸到相当高的高空，在地面龙卷出现之前半小时就已存在。龙卷气旋常出现在强烈冷锋和飑线附近以及强风暴中，在台风外围的强烈不稳定区中有时也能见到。龙卷气旋中，往往有几个尺度比它小的龙卷涡旋，在一个可见的龙卷漏斗中，还可存在一些更小的吸管涡旋，主要的灾害就是由这种吸管涡旋造成的。龙卷主要发生在中纬度（20°～50°）地区。美国是龙卷出现最多的国家，平均每年约出现500次左右。中国也可见到龙卷，每年春季和初夏，常发生在华南、华东一带，南海和台湾海峡有时也出现水龙卷。龙卷难以准确预报，但可以根据天气条件判断在某一地区产生龙卷的可能性，然后通过雷达监测，及时发出警报。
