焚风焚风foehn一种过山后使气温升高、湿度降低的地方性风。最初专指发生在欧洲阿尔卑斯山北麓的热风。后来泛指形成过程类似的干热风。冷季的焚风常引起积雪融化、甚至出现雪崩；暖季的焚风则常使谷物或果实早熟，严重者可引起农作物枯萎，甚至使山林发生火灾。焚风的形成是由于暖湿气流吹向山岭时，在迎风坡被抬升，水汽凝结成雨下降而使空气变干，同时水汽凝结放出潜热，使得上升气流的温度降低缓慢，基本上是按湿绝热过程冷却，当气流越过山峰后，沿山坡下沉，又以干绝热过程增暖。因此，下沉气流到达山麓时，不但干燥而且比迎风坡同高度上的空气温度要高得多，有时可高10℃以上。中国太行山东麓曾观测到典型的焚风。
