砂性土  颗粒间无粘聚力,性质松散,主要由0.075~2毫米的颗粒所组成无塑性的土。按粒度组成可分为粗砂、中砂、细砂和粉砂。主要矿物成分为石英、长石、云母。砂性土由暴露于地表的各类岩石经物理风化破碎、再经机械搬运、磨蚀、分选、堆积而成。纯砂,如石英砂,还必须经促使不稳定矿物化学分解的作用才能形成。纯砂是一种重要的建筑材料。砂性土不具粘着性和塑性,但透水性极强。砂性土层是良好的含水层。作建筑地基时易压密,沉降量小,但在水头及动荷载作用下,粉砂可能发生管涌及液化等不良工程地质现象。砂性土的天然密实程度是控制其工程地质性质的主要因素。按密实程度可分为疏松的砂、中密的砂和密实的砂。砂性土在第四纪沉积物中,以及现代滨海、河流、湖泊、沙漠地带有广泛的分布。
