质测  中国明清之际哲学家方以智的用语。质,实物;测,观察、验证。意指研究自然科学。《物理小识·自序》中说:"物有其故,实考究之,大而元会,小而草木螽蠕,类其性情,征其好恶,推其常变,是曰质测。"即是说,如实地考究事物的因果联系,对大至宇宙演化,小至植物昆虫进行分类研究,考察其本性与形态,把握其变化发展规律及对人的利害关系,这就是"质测"。方以智以"质测"(科学)为"通几"(哲学)的基础,说"质测即藏通几者也";但"质测"又需要"通几"的指导,说"通几护质测之穷",二者不可分割。据他儿子方中通记述,方以智在搜集各种科学资料时,很重视实证、试验,"征其确然","更精求其故,积变以考之"。其著《通雅》及《物理小识》,强调"质测",对我国传统自然科学和当时传入的西方科学作了记述考辨,力辟宋明以来 "蹈虚空谈"、"舍物言理" 的唯心主义,表现了务实求证的科学精神。王夫之给予很高的评价,说"密翁(方以智字密之)与其公子为质测之学,诚学思兼致实之功。盖格物者即物以穷理,唯质测为得之"。
